About us   4 comments

Northolt Model Railway Club was formed in 1950 and since this time its members have enjoyed permanent accommodation  within the Northolt Village Community Centre.

There is a wide range of railway interests within the club and we have extensive layouts constructed in 16.5mm (OO), and 32mm (O) gauges.

During 2012 a 9mm (N) gauge layout commenced construction, now well on the way to completion.

An elevated 3½ ” and 5 ” gauge track of some 660 ft, provides running facilities for the Live Steamers, who in turn provide visitor train rides.(see events for timetable)

All members have use of our excellent library and fully equipped engineering workshop.

Meetings are held on Friday evenings  to which visitors are welcome. Weekly working and running evenings are scheduled on the layouts while live steam are busy with the various locomotive and other build projects in hand. This is all intermixed with a fair bit of talking and a healthy consumption of tea.

Other activities include:

  • Providing a stand at the London Model Engineering Exhibition at Alexander Palace in January.
  • Model and photographic competitions.
  • Outings arranged each year to model and engineering exhibitions, preserved railways and other places of interest.
  • Live steam visits to other clubs giving  opportunities to run our engines on different tracks. We have recently included a summer weekend away to reach clubs further afield.
  • An Annual Exhibition held at the Community Centre .

New members will be made very welcome, whether you are an experienced model maker, an absolute beginner or anywhere in between. Adult membership is restricted to those over 16, but juniors (between 14 and 16) are also welcome if accompanied by a parent.

Visitors and potential members are welcome any Friday evening from about 7pm – just turn up!
