Barnhall Jcn. went out for its first public display at the Northolt Model Railway Club open day and it did not go well.
I did manage to get something running but it did not work as I had envisaged.
There was lots of stop/start with power problems and plenty of de-railments.
So after a bit of head scratching and a few splinters later, the problem seemed to be the 3 way points in the yard (The bit normally hidden behind the front display).
How to solve the problem, interjecting was a fellow exhibitor from the layouts Forrest? and Brunswick who suggested to enter the yard from a curved point. A cup of tea later and the decision was made to re-model the yard entrance.
In the meantime my son, Mark and good friend Dave Sewell managed to keep 2 trains running and I kept out the way as every time I operated the layout it would go wrong.
Re-modelling the yard is near complete and then the wiring, so it shouldn’t be to long to be available to exhibit again.
